History

  • 1910 - Built as Unity Theater
  • 1930s/1940s - Renamed Try-It Theater
  • 1995 - Turned into a concert venue named Showplace Theater

Recent Events and Actions Taken

  • May 2008 - Closed following the death of owner Peter Goretti
  • 2010 - Purchased by Joe “Roxbury” Breidenstein for $60,000
  • 2014 - Scheduled to re-open after extensive renovation
    • Buffalo News: "Improvements include a new roof, repointing the exterior brick, repairing the water-damaged south wall, adding new doors and light fixtures, fixing the air conditioning and heating systems, rebuilding the stage and bar floor, and enhancing the basement for use as a green room. Breidenstein added a screen on the stage as an homage to the Showplace’s movie theater past."
