History

  • 1946-1994 - One owner from 1946 to 1978, and the next until 1994.
  • 1994 - Ownership taken over by the city
  • 1995 - The city wanted $2,500 for the building, an appraisal quoted $6,000, but no offers came in until Ruth Johnson and Iris Kirkwood offered $1,000. They later upped their offer to $1,500. A stalemate ensued until lawyers Peter J. Fiorella Jr. and Herbert M. Siegel donated the $1,000 difference to complete the sale.
  • Ruth Johnson and Iris Kirkwood started Randi’s Red Door Cafe

Recent Events and Actions Taken

  • 2007 - The cafe has since closed, and the building was taken back by the City
  • 2009-2014 - Not available at auction, no for sale sign on the building

*September 15, 2014 - Demolished, without being presented for review to the Preservation Board. The building was stable, and was not listed for sale.
