First floor in use as a Chinese restaurant. Facade has been altered/covered with dry-vit, windows have been altered, fourth floor was removed, and the cornice is missing.

History

  • 1881 - Constructed as a 4 story investment property for Francis J. Handel
  • Architect: George J. Metzger
  • 1909-1953 - Operated as one of the first movie theaters in Buffalo
    • 1909 - Vendome
    • 1912 - Happy Hour
    • Later as the Embassy
    • During WWII as Telenews Theatre
  • 1960s - The 4th floor was removed
