In use as a church and in the process of an ongoing, planned preservation and restoration.

History

  • The church was constructed due to the dense Polish population in the East Side of Buffalo.
  • It was designed by architects Karl G. Schmill and Gould, construction began in 1907 and was completed in 1909.

Recent Events and Actions Taken

  • May 2014: Crowdfunding campaign started (link) to raise matching funds to restore the church's tower: "The Friends of Corpus Christi are reaching out to a wide community to raise funds to match a grant from the State of New York to restore the north bell tower of Corpus Christi Church on Buffalo's East Side. The Church and its twin towers have stood for over a century as a symbol to Buffalo's Broadway/Fillmore neighborhood. Time and the elements however, have taken their toll on this historic structure."

Other Pertinent Facts

The Complex was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.
