Five story, 46,000 sq.ft. brick building
Current Condition
Renovated and in use as Health Science Charter School. The original cornice and brackets that fell off were unfortunately not replaced.
History
- 1899 - Built as the St. Vincent’s Female Orphanage Asylum in 1899. Designed by Green & Wicks.
- 1948 - Orphanage closes after 50 years of educating and providing technical training to 10,000 young women.
- 1952-1971 - The complex was occupied by Bishop O’Hern High School
- 1971-1981 - Used as the Erie Community College city campus until it moved to the Old Post Office.
- 1983 - Purchased by cardiologist Kenneth Gayles, who had a failed plan to turn it into a medical facility.
- 2001 - Auctioneer Cash Cunningham bought the entire property, which at this point consisted of the Squier House, the Green & Wicks building, and a 1935 Art Deco gym designed by Dietel and Wade.

- 2011 - Ellicott Development performs $5.7 million renovation for Health Science Charter School. Stieglitz Snyder and Paul L. Battaglia were the renovation project’s architects.
