Restored, with commercial space occupying the first two floors and apartments on the third floor

History

The building is best known as a branch of the Marine Trust Bank, which became a tenant in 1919. John D. Larkin, president and founder of the Larkin Company next door, was also on the board of Marine Trust.

Recent Events and Actions Taken

  • 2010 - Young + Wright Architectural designed restoration and became a tenant of the building
  • 2010 - Historic 1900 storefront facade restored with the removal of a polished stone cladding that was installed in 1954 for the bank branch.

  • Located within Buffalo's oldest manufacturing district, the Hydraulics Neighborhood.
  • Sept 2009 - Nomination for State and Local Register of Historic Places submitted for Hydraulics on a Multiple Property Documentation Form, laying the groundwork for property owners to designate other buildings in the neighborhood as historic.
  • Designed by Joseph J. W. Bradney, a Buffalo architect also known for designing the Sidway Building, the Spaulding Building, the Robertson-Cataract Electric Co. Building, and the John D. Larkin Jr. House.
