  • Two-story brick industrial building with hanging eaves and brackets. Part of Lion Brewery complex, later occupied by RND Machine Co.

Current Condition

History

  • Constructed in 1871 by Bavarian immigrant George Rochevot for his Lion Brewery. Buffalo News
  • By 1901, the plant was producing 60,000 barrels of beer annually.
  • Rochevot dies in 1897; plant is sold and becomes Consumer's Brewery.
  • Building occupied by sheet metal shop by 1920s.
  • Plant later occupied by RND Machine Co.

Recent Events and Actions Taken

  • September 2022: 1035 Jefferson announced as part of mixed-use project on block. "The renovated Lion Brewery Building will have commercial space on the first floor along Jefferson Avenue, which would contain a restaurant, a small museum gallery acknowledging the rich and diverse history of the building, as well as other commercial uses."
