Recent Events and Actions Taken

  • One of several properties that are part of the Unity Temple and Jubilee Library real estate development project along the west side of Niagara Street in Black Rock, just north of Hamilton Street.
  • Possible properties in this project are 1930, 1932, 1940, 1942 and 1966 Niagara Street.
  • Rumored to be a candidate for demolition, by the developer of the Gothic City properties, for parking.
  • Scott Glasgow, on Facebook December 11, 2022: "The Unity Temple and Jubilee Library project is a positive development here in Black Rock but it is rumored the developer is seeking to demolish several historic structures for parking. This stretch of Niagara St is the only remaining collection of canal era structures in Buffalo and there has been much new investment in many of the buildings in the immediate area."
