- 1907 - 'Dan Montgomery (born in Van Wart, OH) was a black businessman who opened a restaurant that became a successful hotel and supper club for more than eighty years.'
- February 27th, 1954 - Dan Montgomery died at age 68, and is buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
- 1978 - The restaurant closed.
