  • July 30, 2017 - 29 year old man arrested in connection with the arson fire, which was set in a 2nd floor back apartment
  • Here's what Buffalo Open Data tells us:
    • On 2/12/2018, Gregory Gerwitz was issued a General Contracting permit for 486 Franklin Street. Value of work is $23,000, fee was $238. Three plans were submitted. Inspector is Gary Ziolkowski. The permit expires 8/12/2018. Description "REBUILD ROOF AT FIRE DAMAGED M.D. [multiple dwelling] PLANS FILED". It appears Gerwitz is licensed as a Light Commercial Contractor.
    • Before that, a permit to repair was issued on 10/25/2017. Applicant stated as "to be bid". Value of work $4,500. Work described as "MASONRY REPAIRS AT FIRE DAMAGED 5-UNIT M.D. (PLANS REQUIRED FOR ROOF REPAIR - ROOF TO BE UNDER SEPARATE PERMIT) SEE NOTE IN LOG". Same inspector, expiration date 4/25/2018.
