History

  • 1911 - Built as a factory for the Buffalo Electric Vehicle Company
  • Later housed a printing business

Recent Events and Actions Taken

  • 1990s - Vacant for 15 years
  • 2004 - The City of Buffalo invites Artspace to redevelop the building
  • 2008 – $17.6 million rehabilitation completed. Project architect: Hamilton Houston Lownie Architects
  • 2011 - Artspace demolished an adjacent building at 1217 Main Street that they had previously purchased and invested in with a new roof
