History
- The building was designed in 1901 by the first female architect to become a member of the AIA, Louise Blanchard Bethune.
- It was built in order to accommodate the large influx of people into the city expected for the 1901 Pan-American exhibition, however the hotel did not open its doors until 1904.
- Construction of various additions to the building continued until 1926
Recent Events and Actions Taken
2011 - Renovated by Rocco Termini in a $42 million project headed by architects Carmina Wood Morris

- The Lafayette Hotel was considered one of the top 15 finest hotels in the country during its "heyday".
