History

  • The former Police Station No. 5, built from 1893 to 1894 and designed in the Italian Renaissance style by Edward A. Kent. Kent died on the Titanic. Now an apartment building.

Recent Events and Actions Taken

  • April 24, 2019: The building was posted with a Final Notice to Vacate dated 4/24/19 and signed by Commissioner Comerford stating that demolition is imminent.
  • Sean Mulligan, of Councilmember Rivera's office, May 1, 2019: "These buildings are not currently scheduled for demolition. They will be in Housing Court."
  • 5/1/2019: The intent of the order to vacate is to remove workers undertaking non-permitted, hazardous work.
