Physical Description

  • The Col. Francis G. Ward Pumping Station Complex, built from 1907 to 1926, is perhaps the greatest civic works ever constructed by the City of Buffalo and among the most ambitious Great Lakes water projects of the early twentieth century. It is a spectacular Italian Renaissance style waterworks complex, representing an important period of civic idealism in Buffalo and New York State.
