Recent Events and Actions Taken

  • January 2017 - 'Dr. Uzo Ihenko is proposing a mix of residential, retail, and commercial space. The residential component of the project will consist of approximately forty one and two-bedroom workforce housing units. The project carries an $8.7 million price tag. Dr. Ihenko has been given tentative approval for a $750,000 loan from the Buffalo Urban Development Corporations’ Buffalo Building Reuse Loan Fund that provides low interest gap financing for adaptive reuse and new construction projects.'   • March 2018 - 'Dr. Uzo Ihenko’s Broadway Development & Management Group LLC purchased the building for $150,000 from Cilyox Inc. Ihenko is planning to retain some commercial space and add “workforce housing” in the building.' The total project costs, including acquisition of of vacant lots, are estimated at $7.25 million.Buffalo Rising
    • Due to restrictive parking requirements, the new ownership group also has to acquire 361, 369, 371 Broadway, 176, 178, 182 Archie Street and 211, 217 Walnut Street, ensuring that this space cannot grow to be as dense as it once was.
