History

  • 1884 - Catholic Diocese purchases property
  • 1887 - Parish established
  • 1914 - School building facing Brinkman Avenue was built
  • 1958 - Building expansion to Bailey Avenue included a gymnasium and additional classrooms
  • 1990 - Holy Name School closes. Students from multiple parishes are moved to Kolbe Catholic (formerly St. John Gualbert school)

Recent Events and Actions Taken

  • 2006 - Holy Name Parish is closed by the dioceses. The parish had been using the school building for bingo and storage after the school closed.
  • 2009 - Purchased, along with Holy Name Church, by NEW LIFE HARVEST CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST for $130,000

  • According to Councilman Fontana, the owners have been attempting to find a developer to partner with on redevelopment, but have not had success yet.
